Brunswick Plumbing

Brunswick is an eclectic mix and its plumbing is no different! Elm trees in Brunswick’s parks have all sprouted green watering drums. The cobblestone back laneways were for waste, including where sewerage was collected for disposal. It used to be that drains were left to run into no-man’s land. Today, it is a legal requirement to direct any ‘waste’ water from new plumbing works into proper drains, but of course in old areas like Brunswick much of the infrastructure has not been updated. Contrasting colour gutters are featured on many Victorian houses, fetching high prices on the real estate market. Meanwhile I am hoping new gutters on my 70s ‘European-styled’ house will stop the damp attacking the mortar.
